Artist Profile

I was born into a family of artists that immigrated to Mexico from Europe, Russia and Colombia. I have resided in the US since my adolescence.

"Art" has been a family legacy that has traveled through the generations to me. This in itself has been a true gift with a double edged sword: on one hand creativity is bounty. On the other, the darker side: creativity has to be tamed in order to successfully integrate into the world. The struggle between these two edges has been the story of my maturation; my becoming a full human being.

My work speaks about all of the stories within the story; the stages, the feelings, the fears, the experiences that have taken place to get me here!

Intuition is the main force in my work. To allow the wise child to take over and guide me to the deeper source; to connect me with my true self. The method is gestural and heartfelt.

To me, creation is a process of unearthing the subconsciousness of the artist and the viewer. Intellect and schooling follow intuition closely. The discipline: to stay the course - no matter what - until the piece speaks to me and the journey is complete.

The final product: the art piece is a symbol of the journey. The symbol itself is a vessel to journey in or with. Every time I view it, it recreates itself a new, because I have changed and the moment has changed.
