I am an artist working primarily throwing functional porcelain pieces. I incorporate elegance and am inspired by the subtle nuances of nature.
I am attracted by the freedom of order in math that we interpret everyday whether we know it or not. I can watch a person internalize prime numbers, rigid symmetrical order, or a free flowing curve and will see the person express a preference of one over another. I majored in math which has informed my use of curves and proportions.
I am inspired by music, the synergy of low and high notes converging from many different instruments. I apply this to my work as well, and as my hero Einstein said, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." In the spirit of this, each piece I make has its own purity, each cut or curve draws someone's eyes from one place to another. There is both containment and freedom in my work, and by drawing from many sources of inspiration I hope that every person can connect with my art.
