Sadly, Reuben passed away in Fall of 2009. Our condolences go out to friends and family.

I am a professional artist, designer and performer who strives to communicate my perceptions of the world through art, which I create using an assortment of media and technique.

Born as the 12th child in Ario de Rayon Michoacan, Mexico, my artistic passions exuberantly and often provocatively express deep rooted cultural influences of familia , folklore, music, religion and sexuality.

I am not limited to a palette of paint. My process begins with conceptualizing an artistic composition. Then, often using ordinary materials, I attempt to express extraordinary ideas that are surprising and thought-provoking.

Simple, traditional ideas become the displacement and transmutation of identities. Each character created through illustration, painting or sculpting assumes a fictional persona that speaks to the viewer through their custom and behavior. Bizarre, fictional characters come to life whether they are performances, installations or works on paper.

I take controversy head on; my works address political issues, sexual encounters, religious drama, fetishes or even addictions.

Currently I work as an art instructor in both the private and public school systems in Napa Valley, California.
