My series, "The Secret Life of Raindrops" has expanded to "Imaginings on Water" as a primary life force, peaceful and destructive. often life changing in its permutations.
I use "liquidy" mediums; water, ink, tea washes, acrylic, oil, alcohol, as well as salt, chalks and graphite pencil to create subtle nuances and textures that contrast with the drawn lines of the work. Sometimes, collage pieces will also be added.
My paintings, primarily oil on canvas, will often express my interest in natural forces and emphasizes large landscape forms pared to it essence and often inspired by the many aspects of water. Balance between large forms and more intricate shapes is essential to the composition be it a painting or a drawing. My goal is to balance the artwork between large forms and more detailed and intricate shapes. The emphasis on form and color of the paintings create a more "still" and formal appearance.
While my current work is abstract, figurative works also constitute a significant portion of my output, particularly, drawings.
I graduated from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles, with a MFA in painting and drawing. I have also taught privately as well as being accredited to teach on the college level. My work has been seen in numerous exhibitions in California, has won awards and two grants and is in many private collections, nationally and internationally. Since 2005 I have produced work under my professional artist name, Maash Pascal. Prior to that, I've signed work Marsha Rich, my name at the time I attended Otis and for many years after.
I live in Napa with my husband, Dennis, two cats and one dog. I am very pleased to have a home studio where I can listen to music while painting or drawing and hope that the muses are with me. Please visit more of my works on my website at www.maashpascal.com
