Lisa Livoni was born February 5, 1949 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She developed a serious interest in art as a child and attributes some of her early creative influences to extensive travel, which included three years of living in Japan, and attending classes at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
She studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts, receiving a fine arts degree in graphic design and illustration, leading to opening a design studio in San Francisco. Her development of corporate identities, packaging and wine label design introduced her to Napa Valley where she eventually moved in 1988. After twenty years of designing, she resumed her first love of drawing and painting. Lisa has passion for painting color, light and texture and believes the "white space" allows the viewer to use their own imagination. Drawing and painting is a continual evolution and learning experience, which is what makes it so exciting for her.
She has studied with watercolor painter, Charles Reid, at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in Connecticut and Mendocino Arts Center in California. In addition to Reid, she is inspired by the work of Winslow Homer, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, Charles Webster Hawthorne, Edouard Manet and William Merritt Chase.
She exhibits her work locally, and is associated with the Arts Council of Napa Valley, Napa Valley Museum, Carmel Art Association and Mendocino Art Center.
