"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you." ~Gospel of Thomas
Adhering to the notion that divinity resides in all of us and through the act of creation we can reach the divine, my art serves as a point of entry into that place for me. Using painting and writing as a physical connection and mental investigation, my work acts as an exploration and assimilation of states such as grounding, expanding, and letting go.
Whether taking small parts from historically known paintings or meditating upon images, my work explores the idea of a part being a fragment of a larger event. In working with a segments and exploring how they connect to a larger whole, I bring forth what is "within me."
